René Jansen has revealed his intention to step down as the Chairman of the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) when his term ends on 1 October 2024.

Jansen has called time on his role as the KSA’s Chairman due to his reaching retirement age at the end of 2023.

The decision marks the end of an era for Jansen and the KSA, as he has served in the role since 2018 – during which time he oversaw many regulatory and cultural shifts in regard to gambling in the Netherlands.

On his decision to step down, Jansen said: “In recent years I have committed myself to the KSA's mission of safe play with great energy and pleasure.

"There are many great challenges for the new chairman. The KSA has an important role as a supervisor and enforcer in the various gaming markets. This management position is challenging, requires creativity, innovation and decisiveness, but above all has great social value.”

Alongside his role as Chairman of the KSA,site de blackjack Jansen is also the Chair of the Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF), where he was the Vice-Chair from 2019-2021 – when he was appointed Chair.

The Minister for Legal Protection will appoint Jansen’s successor, in a process that will be overseen by the General Administrative Service, which has posted the vacancy online.

The position application date closes on November 11th and it comes with a one-time extension for another six years – which Jansen has opted not to take.

Earlier this year, Gambling Insider spoke to Jansen in a GI Huddle.
